Director of Finance

Murtha Cullina LLP has an immediate opening for a Director of Finance, located in the Hartford Office. Reporting to the Director of Administration, this position is responsible for the supervision and oversight of the overall operations of the Accounting Department and the Firm's financial management. Performs a variety of administrative, accounting, and tax reporting duties including financial analysis, creating budgets, forecasting and reporting. Where appropriate, ensures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, financial accounting standards, internal control procedures, and federal and state accounting regulations and filing requirements. Formulates and administers approved accounting practices throughout the Firm to assure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of seven years experience managing an accounting department in a medium or large size company, preferably a law firm. Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and computer based accounting systems, as well as the ability to learn new software, required. Prior Elite system experience preferred. Qualified candidates will be able to effectively manage and supervise department members and have strong organization and communication skills.

Senior Biller

Murtha Cullina LLP has an immediate opening in the Accounting Department for a Senior Biller, located in the Hartford office. This position is responsible for processing monthly client invoices, overseeing the client data system, resolving billing problems with attorneys and clients and trust accounting. Responsibilities may also include billing procedure documentation, staff and attorney billing training and running a variety of reports from the computer system.

Minimum of four years related law firm experience and advanced level skills with multiple technologies and spreadsheet applications required. Candidate should possess: 1) a high client service ethic and a proven record of delivering exemplary client satisfaction, 2) the ability to communicate credibly and effectively with all levels of attorneys and staff, 3) strong organizational skills with the capacity to multi-task and prioritize work and meet demanding deadlines, 4) excellent attention to detail and 5) the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Solid experience with Elite software a plus.

Senior Conflicts Analyst

Murtha Cullina LLP has an immediate opening for a Senior Conflicts Analyst, located in the Boston office. The Senior Conflicts Analyst is responsible for the timely day-to-day processing of conflict and new client/matter requests, including but not limited to conducting corporate affiliate research, indentifying where potential conflicts exist and facilitating discussions that will lead to the resolution of those conflicts. Responsiblities also include performing similar conflict checks relating to activities of the Firm's attorneys and lateral candidates.

Qualified candidates will be familiar with databases and reporting as they relate to conflicts/new business intake functions, have advanced Internet skills, and a solid understanding of waiver letters, engagement letters and ethical walls. Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years performing conflict checks and intake functions in a medium-to-large law firm are required. Proficiency in Microsoft programs and the ability to learn new software are required. Experience with Elite Enterprise, workflow programs, FileSurf, and/or IntApp Wall Builder preferred.
