Murtha Cullina Hosts DECD Commissioner Catherine Smith
December 7, 2012
Hartford, CT (December 7, 2012) – On Monday, December 3rd, Murtha Cullina hosted a presentation featuring invited speaker Catherine Smith, Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development.
Commissioner Smith gave a presentation highlighting the benefits of the state’s new economic development strategy. She discussed the implementation of economic programs supported by Governor Malloy and the General Assembly – more recently including the Small Business Express and First Five programs. Under these programs the State of Connecticut is able to offer opportunities and incentives for companies looking to expand or relocate business in the state.
Commissioner Smith also noted how small businesses and some of the state’s largest or newest employers such as ESPN, Jackson Labs and NBC Sports have partnered with the state to increase business here in Connecticut.
“This was a great opportunity to invite our clients and guests into a room to hear first-hand what the state is doing to spur and retain business,” stated David J. McQuade, Senior Government Affairs Consultant at Murtha Cullina. “Programs like these provide support for so many businesses looking to gain a competitive edge in today’s economy.”
The event took place on Monday, December 3rd at the Stamford Marriott.
