HARTFORD, CT (March 5, 2020)…Murtha Cullina LLP is proud to announce that three of its attorneys have been named 2020 “New Leaders in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune. Bridget M. D’Angelo, Benjamin H. Nissim and Martha M. Royston were selected for this honor for their outstanding legal work, pro bono efforts, service to the bar and community involvement.

Ms. D’Angelo is an Associate in the Firm's Business & Finance Department.  She represents a wide range of clients in the areas of real estate and commercial financing, assisting them with real estate acquisitions and dispositions, development, leasing, financing and entity formation.  She has significant experience representing lenders and borrowers in the negotiation, documentation and amendment of commercial real estate mortgage loans.  Ms. D’Angelo is appointed as the Chair of the Real Property Section on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and is the Treasurer of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association.  She also serves as the Treasurer of the Commercial Finance Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and is a volunteer for Project H.E.L.P.  Ms. D’Angelo received her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and her B.A., summa cum laude, in Economics and Political Science from the Robert E. Cook Honors College of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Nissim is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Department and is a member of the firm’s Insurance Recovery, Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, and Privacy and Cybersecurity practice groups.  He represents a variety of clients, including individuals, closely held corporations, and Fortune 100 businesses in complex commercial disputes.  He regularly litigates matters in state and federal courts, arbitration, and in appellate proceedings.  Mr. Nissim maintains a robust pro bono practice, working with Lawyers for Children America, representing children throughout neglect proceedings involving the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.  He is on the Board of Trustees of the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center.  Mr. Nissim received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his B.A. from Wesleyan University.

Ms. Royston is an Associate in the Firm's Litigation Department and the Labor and Employment Practice Group.  She represents employers in a wide variety of cases including claims of discrimination and retaliation; breach of non-compete and restrictive covenants; and wage and hour violations.  She has extensive experience litigating matters before the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) and in state and federal court.  Ms. Royston is the Secretary of the Labor and Employment Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and she is on the Executive Committee of the New Haven County Bar Association, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee.  She is a Founding Organizer of DisruptHR’s Hartford Chapter and she is on the Board of Governors of the New Haven Lawn Club.  Ms. Royston received her J.D. from Boston College Law School and her B.A. from Bowdoin College.

The Connecticut Law Tribune will honor the New Leaders in the Law at the annual Connecticut Legal Awards Dinner on May 6.
