Murtha Means More

Murtha Cullina LLP Raises Money for Community Meals/Hands on Hartford

November 21, 2011

HARTFORD, CT (November 21, 2011)…For the third consecutive year, the attorneys and staff of Murtha Cullina LLP’s Hartford office have worked together to raise money in support of the Hartford-based MANNA Community Meals Program. Through a series of fundraisers and generous donations, Murtha has raised over $3,000 in order to provide program beneficiaries with their own Thanksgiving meal and gift bags filled with basic essentials.

Three years ago, Murtha Cullina began an annual firm tradition – ‘Community Meals Day’ – where attorneys and staff organize raffles with items donated by Murtha and its vendors, and collect proceeds from charity walks and other donations – all to support the mission of MANNA.
This year, Murtha will supply the MANNA Community Meals Program with over 400 pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving Day, as well as 200 gift bags stocked with toothbrushes, deodorant, warm socks and other products.
“MANNA is truly a wonderful community-based program, and one that the firm is proud to have formed a lasting and growing commitment to,” said Debbie Sciarra, Director of Marketing at Murtha Cullina LLP.
In addition to Murtha’s annual fundraising efforts, the attorneys and staff volunteer three times a month during their lunch hours to serve at the MANNA soup kitchen. Debbie Sciarra noted that, “keeping our firm involved year-round in a community soup kitchen not only provides an ongoing opportunity for our attorneys and staff to spend time together, but also to make a difference. Our goal is to remain a helping hand to MANNA and to those that they serve.”
