David P. Friedman
Mr. Friedman represents clients in complex commercial and other civil litigation matters. He has litigated cases in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels involving attorney malpractice claims, commercial lease issues, foreclosures, environmental disputes, partnership disputes and dissolutions, franchise disputes, claims for contribution and indemnification, claims for breach of non-competition agreements, trade secret claims and a wide variety of contractual disputes. He has represented attorneys in grievance proceedings before the Statewide Grievance Committee.
Mr. Friedman is Vice President and Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, a member of the Connecticut Bar Association House of Delegates, a fellow with the Connecticut Bar Foundation, and serves as an attorney trial referee in the Connecticut Superior Court, Judicial District of Fairfield at Bridgeport.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Friedman worked for the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Appeals Bureau, in New York City (1983-1986), where he briefed and argued approximately 50 appeals before the New York Court of Appeals and the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division and Appellate Term. He subsequently served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judith S. Kaye, Associate Judge (later Chief Judge) of the New York Court of Appeals. From 1980 to 2009 he worked for Zeldes, Needle & Cooper, P.C in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he maintained a vibrant and diverse commercial litigation practice. He has continued and enhanced that practice since his arrival at Murtha Cullina in 2009.
