Robert J. Munnelly, Jr.
Mr. Munnelly, a partner in the firm's Regulatory and Real Estate Department, has extensive experience with legal, regulatory and local taxation issues faced by cable television, telecommunications and energy companies in New England. He has also worked with companies in other regulated industries and in appellate practice in state and federal courts.
Beginning his career at a large Boston law firm, Mr. Munnelly concentrated his practice on administrative law and commercial litigation. As Assistant Attorney General in the Administrative Law Division of the Government Bureau of the Massachusetts Office of Attorney General, he represented state agencies in trial court actions and appeals and co-chaired the Business Regulation and Tax Practice group. Mr. Munnelly then became the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for the New England Cable and Telecommunications Association where he served as strategist and counsel in all six New England states. At Murtha Cullina, Mr. Munnelly has represented energy companies in retail licensing, market design, development of conventional and renewable energy projects and power purchase agreements, and industry restructuring proceedings in all five restructured states in New England.
Mr. Munnelly is currently Partner-in-Charge of the firm's Boston office and Chair of the Administrative and State Appeals Practice Group.
