Mr. White serves as the co-chair of the Firm's Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Group. He represents purchasers of distressed assets, secured and unsecured creditors, and troubled companies both in and out of bankruptcy. Mr. White also represents creditors' committees and trustees in bankruptcy and has served as a fiduciary in a confirmed plan of liquidation. He has represented clients in many industries, including long-term care, distribution, construction, retail, real estate, manufacturing, energy, and not-for-profit industries. He actively litigates claims in the bankruptcy court including preferences, fraudulent transfers, director and officer claims, and other issues. He has represented clients in arbitration and mediation and has served as a mediator. Mr. White's commercial litigation practice includes creditors' rights litigation, partnership and shareholder litigation and contract disputes in both federal and state courts. He is often called upon to represent clients in property tax disputes for real and personal property, including companies in the energy, healthcare, water, and real estate industries. Mr. White also serves as an expert witness and mediator in a range of insolvency and commercial disputes. Mr. White has been certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification and has lectured on bankruptcy and insolvency topics. Mr. White formerly served on the American Bar Association Chairs and Vice Chairs Committee of the Business Bankruptcy Committee, and was the chair of the Subcommittee on Mass Torts and Environmental Claims. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section. He has served on the Judicial Merit Selection Panel.
