Hartford, CT (March 3, 2010)… Paul R. Michaud has joined Murtha Cullina LLP as Counsel in the firm’s Energy and Environmental Practice Groups. As former Counsel for the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, Mr. Michaud has extensive experience in the renewable energy industry and will focus his efforts on expanding the firm’s renewable energy and energy efficiency practice. Paul will provide regulatory and transactional support to businesses, hospitals, schools and other institutions as they deploy renewable energy generation, demand-side-management, and energy efficiency measures at their premises, as well as grid-side utility-scale renewable generation. Mr. Michaud comes to Murtha with over 15 years experience in energy matters, including representation of project developers before utility regulators and siting authorities. He has extensive knowledge in renewable energy project development, traditional power plant development and permitting, energy efficiency, demand-side-management, and electric utility law. In addition, he has a comprehensive background in drafting and negotiating renewable energy procurement and construction contracts and project finance agreements. “I look forward to assisting not only individual developers on the deployment of renewable energy generation and energy efficiency measures,” said Mr. Michaud, “but also to assisting the industry as a whole by identifying and advocating for the removal of legal, regulatory, and legislative impediments to the full implementation of renewable energy, demand-side-management, and energy efficiency in Connecticut and Massachusetts.” “Paul brings a wealth of renewable energy knowledge and experience to our existing energy and environmental practices,” said Elizabeth Stewart, Murtha Cullina managing partner. “Together, the groups provide comprehensive and innovative solutions to the growing and cutting-edge needs of our clients in what promises to be an evolving practice area.” About Murtha Cullina LLP
