Legal Administrative Assistant

Murtha Cullina LLP is a premier NE regional law firm with offices in CT, MA and NY, seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, team player for a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant for its Stamford office. This fast-paced position will require someone to manage multiple and possibly conflicting priorities and requires excellent organizational skills. The Legal Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks in a law firm environment, including, but not limited to:  general administrative and legal support for attorneys, office services (copying, scanning, etc.), document management (filing/records) and special projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with time entries
  • Assist with downloading, distribution, and filing of electronic documents; 
  • Proofread materials to ensure high quality product;
  • Type neatly and accurately, using appropriate grammar and spelling;
  • File, scan and distribute incoming mail and physical correspondence
  • File electronic documents in Outlook and iManage
  • Perform mail merges and document comparisons;
  • Prepare expense reports and input/track in Chrome River;
  • Prepare and submit check requests and payment request forms;
  • Prepare physical files as needed; 
  • Prepare outgoing mail, shipping labels, and assist with large mailings;
  • Prepare binders, indexes and labels;
  • Process vendor invoices;
  • Schedule meetings and conference rooms; update Outlook calendars;
  • Set up conference rooms for meetings, and arrange for lunches, as needed;
  • Work with legal assistants and attorneys to locate and/or research information for assignments as directed;
  • Coverage of front desk, as needed
  • Support Administrative Management as requested
  • Proactive nature and initiative encouraged to identify problems and provide solutions

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • 1-3 years of office experience required, previous law firm experience a plus
  • Team player with ability to be proactive and focus on problem solving.
  • Professional and mature demeanor consistent with client facing position
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically experience with Excel
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail with consistent accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant

Murtha Cullina LLP is a regional law firm with offices in CT, MA and NY currently seeking a full-time Legal Administrative Assistant to join its Litigation Department in the Hartford office. The ideal candidate must have 3- 5 years’ experience as a Litigation LAA in a law firm environment.

Specific duties include:

  • Opening of new matters
  • Time Entry
  • Reviewing, processing and submitting monthly client invoices
  • Submitting expense reports using Chrome River
  • Submitting vendor invoices
  • Creating and organizing binders (physical and electronic binders)
  • Tracking court schedules and calendars
  • E-filing in State and Federal Courts
  • Assisting with trial preparation
  • Formatting, proofreading, and finalizing correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents; preparing and finalizing basic correspondence and other documents as necessary
  • Scheduling deposition appearances
  • Researching Bankruptcy Court and Superior Court cases on Pacer
  • Bankruptcy Court Fee Applications
  • Establishing and maintaining paper and/or electronic filing systems
  • General administrative support for multiple attorneys
  • Other duties as needed


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Prior experience as a Litigation LAA in a law firm environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-starter with initiative to learn new tasks
  • Ability to work both independently and a part of a team
