January 2, 2015 - Massachusetts and Connecticut Offices Generous During the Holiday SeasonFor questions or more information, please contact Andrea Race. Hartford, CT (January 2, 2015)...Murtha Cullina’s offices in Massachusetts and Connecticut were once again extremely generous during the holiday season. In Boston, attorneys and staff collected approximately $3,800 for the May Center. This includes significant matching gifts from John Gahan and Dan Cohn. With the money raised, designated Murtha shoppers were able to purchase numerous gifts and toys for the May Center, including clothing and electronics. The May Center provides educational, rehabilitative, and behavioral healthcare services to individuals with developmental disabilities. For at least the 14th year, the Hartford office continued to support the Mercy House during the holidays. This year, attorneys and staff provided gifts for 40 children and families in need. The Mercy House provides housing and supportive services to homeless and at risk people. In New Haven, holiday gifts were collected for the Center for Children’s Advocacy (CCA). The CCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the legal rights of children whose care is dependent on the State of Connecticut. In addition, attorneys and staff in New Haven collected $650.00 to sponsor three children in Operation Smile. Operation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other deformities in children across the globe who cannot afford medical care. In Stamford, even an office move couldn’t get in the way of the holiday spirit. For the second year in a row, attorneys and staff participated in Inspirica’s Holiday Gift Collection with our client, Connecticut Community Bank. Together, they purchased gifts directly from a child’s “wish list.” Inspirica is one of the largest providers of services to the homeless in Connecticut and the largest in lower Fairfield County. |
