HARTFORD, CT (February 29, 2016)…Murtha Cullina LLP Partner Suzanne Brown Walsh has accepted an invitation from the European Law Institute (ELI) to represent the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) on a joint committee exploring the development of a Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act (UFADAA) in Europe and Canada.

The goal of ELI is to develop legislation allowing fiduciary access to digital assets in the civil law context, similar to the UFADAA in the United States.  Ms. Walsh chaired the ULC’s drafting committee on UFADAA which went into effect in 2014 and was revised in 2015. The purpose of UFADAA is to provide fiduciaries with the authority to access, control, or copy digital assets, while respecting the privacy and intent of the account holder.

Since 2005, Ms. Walsh has served as one of Connecticut’s eight Commissioners on Uniform Laws. As such, she represents the State as a member of the Uniform Law Commission, a national organization which promotes statutory uniformity.  Ms. Walsh is currently a member of the ULC’s Regulation of Virtual Currencies Businesses and Divided Trusteeship Drafting Committees.

As a member of the Trusts and Estates Department of Murtha Cullina, Ms. Walsh represents clients in the areas of estate and tax planning, particularly for families of children with special needs, elder law, estate and trust administration, trust modifications and trustee changes.  Ms. Walsh is nationally known for her speaking and writing, including the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, and numerous regional organizations throughout the country.  She is a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel (ACTEC).
