NEW HAVEN, CT (April 26, 2016)… Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to announce the expansion of its Intellectual Property Practice Group with the additions of Anthony P. Gangemi as a Partner and Robert J. Kasten as Patent Agent.

Mr. Gangemi joins the Business and Finance Department where he will Chair the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and expand a key area of growth for the Firm.  Mr. Gangemi, an engineer who has worked as a patent attorney for over 16 years, brings a broad range of technical, business, and legal experience in a variety of technical fields including clean energy, medical devices, construction technologies, and computer software. He received his J.D. and LL.M. degrees from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in New Hampshire and his Bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees from the Colorado School of Mines. He is licensed to practice in Connecticut and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  Mr. Gangemi is a member of the CT Bar Association, American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). He has been cited as a source about U.S. and international patent and intellectual property laws and rights, and legal issues facing technical industries including clean energy and medical devices.  Mr. Gangemi has been published in The Connecticut Law Tribune and has held numerous speaking engagements in Connecticut and New York.

Robert J. Kasten has joined the Firm as a Patent Agent where will be responsible for the drafting and prosecution of patent applications.  Mr. Kasten is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Kasten received his Bachelor of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Mr. Gangemi and Mr. Kasten will work closely with the Firm’s Business and Finance, Entrepreneur, and Renewable Energy teams, helping with all aspects of intellectual property law.

Prior to joining Murtha Cullina, Mr. Gangemi was a patent attorney and partner with the intellectual property group of Wiggin and Dana LLP, and Mr. Kasten was a patent agent within the same firm.  Mr. Gangemi has worked on U.S. and international patent portfolios, enforcing and defending patent rights, assessing and mitigating infringement risks, helping bring new products to market and counseling clients on a wide range of intellectual property issues, including trademark, copyright, and trade secrets matters.  Mr. Kasten has worked on all aspects of patent prosecution and has extensive trademark experience, including experience at the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent examiner.
