NEW HAVEN, CT (June 23, 2016)…Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to announce the further expansion of its Intellectual Property Practice Group with the addition of Mitchell J. Mehlman as Of Counsel to the Firm.

Mr. Mehlman joins the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group where his primary focus will be preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a wide array of technical areas including chemical, pharmaceutical, microelectronics packaging, and mechanical. 

Before attending law school, Mr. Mehlman worked for over 20 years as an engineer and engineering manager.  Most of his time as an engineer was spent working for a private aerospace company where he gained research and development experience in materials engineering, failure analysis, composite manufacturing, and polymer analysis.

Mr. Mehlman will work closely with the Firm’s Business and Finance, Entrepreneur, and Renewable Energy teams, helping with all aspects of intellectual property law.

Prior to joining Murtha Cullina, Mr. Mehlman practiced for over ten years a patent attorney in private law firms. He has worked on procuring U.S. and international patents and counseling clients on a wide range of intellectual property issues, including trademark, copyright, and trade secrets matters.

Mr. Mehlman received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Queens College, The City University of New York, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and earned his law degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center. Mr. Mehlman is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
