September 13, 2018 - After Recent Attorney Additions, Murtha Cullina LLP Labor and Employment Practice Group Prepares for Fall Seminars

HARTFORD, CT (September 13, 2018)…Murtha Cullina LLP is pleased to announce that its Labor and Employment Practice Group has recently added four attorneys, including Partners Matthew K. Curtin and Erek Sharp, Counsel Melanie N. Aska and Associate Martha M. Royston

These important attorney additions make the Firm’s full-service Labor and Employment Practice Group (the “Group”) well positioned to meet all clients’ labor and employment needs. Chaired by Patricia E. Reilly, an experienced employment litigator and counselor, the Group boasts a deep bench of attorneys whose subject matter expertise includes employment litigation and counseling, wage and hour, traditional labor, ERISA, employee benefits and executive compensation.  This Group regularly and successfully represents employers concerning a wide variety of claims before state and federal courts and agencies in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.

“This is a very exciting time for our Labor and Employment Group.  In 2018, we have added four extremely talented attorneys to this practice area,” said Patricia E. Reilly, Chair of the Murtha Cullina Labor and Employment Group. “Matthew Curtin has substantial experience with collective bargaining, labor arbitrations and labor relations; Erek Sharp and Melanie Aska each have been counseling clients on ERISA and employee benefit plans for many years; and Martha Royston is an up-and-coming labor and employment attorney.  We have a well-rounded and diverse team, and we are proud to serve as trusted advisors to our clients and to provide them with vigorous defense in  litigation.”

The Group frequently offers seminars and training on virtually any labor or employment topic, including new developments in the law, sexual harassment prevention, employee relations, managing leaves of absence, diversity and inclusion and other topics of interest to our clients.  This Fall, the Group is offering Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Seminars in a number of locations. In addition, the Group is also presenting its annual Labor and Employment Update in October. These events are for clients, business owners, human resources professionals and supervisors.

The sexual harassment prevention training seminars review the law regarding unlawful harassment, as well as best practices to address it and minimize legal liability.  This training is required for supervisors of 50 or more employees in Connecticut and, effective on October 9, 2018, New York State will mandate sexual harassment prevention training for all employees.
