HARTFORD, CT (July 1, 2020)…A team of Murtha Cullina LLP attorneys recently represented Savant Systems, Inc. in its acquisition of General Electric (GE) Lighting. Savant Systems, Inc. is an industry leader in the professional smart home space. For nearly 130 years, GE Lighting has been at the forefront of every major lighting innovation, from the dawn of incandescent bulbs to industry-first LED and smart solutions along with the world’s first voice-embedded lighting product.
This noteworthy acquisition combines Savant’s innovative technology and professional installation channels for the home with GE’s brand, lighting expertise and retailer channels. Savant will continue to use the GE brand. Murtha Cullina is honored to have been part of Savant’s historic acquisition.
This significant deal required a breadth of experience and talent from across all of Murtha Cullina’s offices and involved more than 20 attorneys from a broad spectrum of practice areas. From sophisticated mergers and acquisitions work to union negotiations, Murtha Cullina attorneys were integral at every step of the transaction and also provided additional guidance in the areas of tax, finance, real estate, employment, employee benefits, environmental, and privacy and cybersecurity. In addition, Murtha’s experienced intellectual property group provided essential insight from due diligence, to patent assessment and managing all aspects of the transition of intellectual property to Savant. Murtha Cullina facilitated this complex transaction throughout the adverse impact of COVID-19.
