Murtha Means More

Get to Know Summer Associate Kiana Laude

July 26, 2022

Our summer program is designed to enable our interns to explore different practice areas, get to know and learn from our lawyers in a collaborative environment and develop their skills in preparation for a career in law.

Kiana Laude is rising 2L at the University of Connecticut School of Law. She joined us in the Hartford office this summer as part of the LCD Diversity Scholar Program in a joint internship with Raytheon. Learn more about her in this summer associate spotlight.

Why did you choose Murtha Cullina for your summer internship?

I chose the firm because of its wide range of practice areas and focus on inclusivity.

Tell us about some your work highlights during the summer.

I’ve gained experience on a broad range of matters from litigation to business finance. I’ve helped a non-profit organization receive its tax-exemption status and conducted immigration research.

What is your favorite part about your summer so far?

Getting to see the things I’m learning about in law school in practice. It’s one thing to learn about them in class and another to see them presented in front of you in real life.

What advice do you have for other summers?

Have an open mind, since you may be surprised at what actually piques your interest. For example, by allowing myself to be open, I found that I was more interested in litigation work than I thought I would be.
