New Laws Provide Leave Time for Nursing Mothers and for Victims of Family Violence

An overview of recent amendments to the federal Fair Labor Standards Act giving non-exempt employees the right to take reasonable break time to express breast milk, in addition to Connecticut law regarding nursing or expressing breast milk in the workplace.  Also discusses Connecticut regulation in effect as of October 1, 2010 which requires employers to allow employees who are victims of family violence to take up to 12 days per calendar year to undertake certain activities related to family violence.
