David A. Menard
David is the Chair of the firm's Business and Finance Department and the Chair of the Emerging Companies Group. David has experience ranging from guiding start-ups in diverse industries to managing complex multi-national transactions. Over the past 5 years, David has led transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $1 billion, and has provided guidance for more than 125 individual emerging companies. Recently, David led the legal team for Savant Systems in its acquisition of General Electric Lighting. He regularly leads teams of attorneys from a variety of practice areas in a manner designed to ensure clients receive comprehensive and efficient solutions.
As a founder of the firm’s entrepreneur practice, David assembled a team of attorneys from a wide range of practice areas, from intellectual property to employment law and immigration, all to meet the wide range of needs of entrepreneurs. David guides companies at all stages of their life-cycle, from formation to exit, whether by sale, generational transfer or otherwise. David assists business with all forms of business transactions, including formation matters, multiple partner issues, commercial agreements including supply and distribution chains, and international agreements.
In addition to his law practice, David is an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford Barney School of Business. David also serves as a mentor to entrepreneurs throughout Connecticut by mentoring in entrepreneur programs at the Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale, reSET in Hartford CT, the University of Connecticut and it’s Innovation Quest InQbator, the Community Economic Development Fund and elsewhere. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Social Enterprise Trust. Finally, David is also a co-host of the CTSTARTUP podcast, which shines a spotlight on entrepreneurs and growth companies in Connecticut.

David is the Chair of the firm's Business and Finance Department and the Chair of the Emerging Companies Group.
