Elizabeth A. Galletta


Elizabeth A. Galletta is a Partner in Murtha Cullina's Business and Finance Department and a member of the Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Group.  She represents clients from a variety of industries in all aspects of intellectual property law.  Elizabeth serves as Chair of the Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group.

Elizabeth’s comprehensive practice includes procurement of intellectual property rights and transactional matters surrounding intellectual property rights. Elizabeth’s comprehensive knowledge of U.S. patent prosecution allows her to successfully advocate for her clients at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office during prosecution and the appeal process.  She has extensive experience in patent procurement for clients in a variety of technologies in the chemical, biological, and mechanical arts and has drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the following technologies:
•    Organic chemistry
•    Pharmaceuticals
•    Mining 
•    Medical devices
•    Nanotechnology
•    Semiconductors
•    Batteries
•    Bearings
•    Clean technologies
•    Business methods and software

In addition to her patent prosecution experience, Elizabeth also counsels clients in the identification and protection of trade secrets, trademarks, and copyrights. Elizabeth also has significant experience in conducting due diligence review of IP assets in asset purchase transactions.

Elizabeth is involved in Connecticut’s vibrant start-up community by giving presentations regarding intellectual property, attending pitch competitions, and serving as a mentor at MEWS+, which is the entrepreneur program offered by the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce.
