Earlier this week, Murtha Cullina sponsored a screening of Girl Talk, a film about five girls on a diverse, top-ranked Massachusetts high school debate team, at the Avon Theatre in Stamford, CT.

The event was attended by more than 150 people, including Murtha lawyers Salvatore Gangemi, Taruna Garg, Stephanie Sobkowiak, Rich Basile, Lisa Newfield and Patrick Coughlin; and students from Stamford’s Academy of Information Technology & Engineering, Stamford High School, Westhill High School, Greenwich High School and the Stamford Public middle schools.

Girl Talk explores the challenges faced by girls in the high school debate world, and the value of speaking up and finding your true voice.

Counsel Alexis Brooks moderated the post-film Q&A with Gil Alon, one of the women featured in the film, which explored the challenges of being a girl on a high school debate team and how more girls can get involved with high school debate.
