Partner Edward B. Spinella has been named a recipient of the “40 Under Forty” Award from the Hartford Business Journal (HBJ). 

For the past 23 years, the HBJ has selected 40 outstanding young professionals who are excelling in their industries and making a difference in the community.  This year, the HBJ received 178 nominations for this award. 

Mr. Spinella is the Chair of the Murtha Cullina Tax-Exempt Organizations Practice Group. He serves as general counsel to a diverse array of tax-exempt organizations including start-up public charities, social service providers, other healthcare organizations, private foundations, social clubs and trade associations.  In addition to his tax-exempt organizations practice, Ed regularly provides general counsel services to various for-profit entities with an emphasis on closely-held businesses and entrepreneurial start-ups.

Mr. Spinella was an active member of the Connecticut Bar Association’s LLC Act subcommittee in connection with its overhaul of the LLC Act and will be actively involved with the Bar Association’s anticipated overhaul of the CT Revised Nonstock Corporation Act. He is a member of the Board of Directors for HARC, Inc. and Connecticut Explored, Inc.  He received his B.A. from the College of Holy Cross and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut Law School.

Mr. Spinella and the other “40 Under Forty” recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.
