Daniel J. Krisch has joined Murtha Cullina as head of the Appellate practice and a partner in the Litigation practice based in the firm’s Hartford, Connecticut office.

Dan has two decades of experience resolving complex legal issues during all stages of litigation for a wide range of corporate, institutional and individual clients. He has argued more than 120 appeals, including matters related to multi-million-dollar tort verdicts, commercial and contract litigation, complex divorce cases, zoning and land use matters, serious criminal convictions, election disputes, and issues of constitutional law and fundamental rights.

Dan advises clients about appellate issues and helps them anticipate and prepare for appeals, all while prioritizing their goals, recognizing that successful appeals begin long before they are filed. He frequently assists trial lawyers and insurers with raising, arguing and properly preserving potential appellate issues during trial and regularly represents companies, insurers and individuals in civil litigation in state and federal court.

Dan also counsels and represents municipalities, candidates and interested individuals in election disputes and in proceedings before the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

On joining the firm, Dan says, “I'm excited to join Murtha. Collaborating with this group of dedicated and talented lawyers aligns with my goals for professional growth. The firm's strong regional presence will be instrumental in helping me further develop my practice."

Andy Corea, Murtha’s Managing Partner notes, "We are pleased to welcome Dan to the firm. His extensive experience in appellate law will be instrumental in strengthening our firm's capabilities in this area. This move underscores our dedication to continuing to deliver top-tier legal services to our clients."

Dan graduated from Columbia University and the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he later taught moot court and appellate advocacy. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Ellen Peters, the former Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, from 1999 to 2000.

The members of Murtha’s Appellate Practice Group have litigated hundreds of appeals in the state and federal appeals courts at all levels in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Many of our lawyers have served as judicial clerks to state and federal appeals judges. Our appellate attorneys are routinely retained to handle cutting-edge appeals involving issues of first impression or to seek reversal of large adverse judgments. They have also prepared numerous amicus curiae briefs on behalf of firm clients for filing in state and federal courts. Our Appellate practice received the prestigious “Litigation Department of the Year” Award from the Connecticut Law Tribune for four consecutive years.
