Managing partner Andy Corea will be honored by the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut (SABAC) as its 2023 Trailblazer Award recipient at SABAC’s 16th Annual Awards Gala on September 13. The Trailblazer Award celebrates individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the Connecticut legal community.

Andy has been a longtime member and leader of the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut where he served as both secretary (2018) and president (2013) of the organization.

Andy, who was born in Sri Lanka and emigrated to the United States, is the first South Asian managing partner at Murtha Cullina,

Andy maintains a comprehensive trademark practice that includes both transactional and adversarial matters in addition to his firm managerial duties. He also helps clients protect their intellectual property rights through enforcement, litigation, assignment and licensing.

Andy’s more than 20 years in the field began as a trademark examining attorney for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), a role that provided insight into trademark clearance and prosecution. He regularly appears before the USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) and represents clients in federal court cases around the country.

Widely respected in the Connecticut legal community, Andy is an American Bar Association Fellow and a Connecticut Bar Foundation Fellow. He is a member of the Connecticut Asian Pacific Bar Association and is on the Board of Directors of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

SABAC was formed in 2004 as a resource to South Asian lawyers and law students for growth, professional development, networking and community outreach.
